At the southern end of the Mt. Hope Bridge go south on RI 114 1.3 miles to Portsmouth RI 114 continue 1.5 miles to the red light at Portsmouth Abbey. Take a right and head west 0.9 miles past the Green Animals Topiary, circa 1860,until the end of the road at the abandoned railroad tracks. There is parking here for 4 or so vehicles and the launch spot is only 20 yards from the parking area. Head north towards the mouth of Mt. Hope Bay or go south towards the Melville Marina area where you may see some America’s Cup Yachts. There is also a large barge that ran aground and was abandoned quite close to the shore near the marina seawall.
